Visit with Ryan Edgar as he rehearses at home for his next gig, then come along as he performs at Gilley’s in Dallas.  Listen as he shares what inspired him to write one of his newest songs.

Meet Ellis, a Troubadour who brings a unique mix of storytelling and humor to the stage.  The TTX crew is with Ellis as she performs at a popular listening room in Dallas and meets with fans.

3rd Annual NY Peace Week Combats the Culture of Violence & promotes a LIFE style of PEACE

Leading anti-violence activist Erica Ford, Founder and CEO of LIFE Camp, has announced that January 15 – 22, 2012 marks the 3rd annual New York Peace Week, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King’s efforts of non-violence. Erica Ford and the NY Peace Weekcommittee will hold its annual press conference at City Hall this Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 12:00 noon.

The goal of NY Peace Week is to create a culture of peace throughout New York City for 7 days, featuring special events and a grassroots viral marketing campaign that encourages individuals to take personal action to create inner peace and set a positive example for NYC youth.

NY Peace Week will feature a series of events and activities that will address a range of violence and conflict-related issues that affect the social order of New York City communities, raise the urgent need to get guns off the street and engage communities in combating the culture of violence among our young people.  NY Peace Week also offers the people of NYC the chance to attend a series of events and activities to promote peace across the five boroughs, in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The campaign has incorporated orange as its signature color because orange represents enthusiasm, happiness, creativity, determination, success and encouragement.

NY Peace Week 2012 launches several new and exciting partnerships:

•   The official partnership with The Source magazine and LIFE Camp, Inc., for a year-long viral / grassroots community campaign, promoting peace as a lifestyle among The Source magazine readers and the Hip Hop community at large

•   The official partnership of Conscious Global Leadership and Akasha Associates with LIFE Camp, Inc., to bring experts from as far as India to host exclusive yoga and meditation events for community service providers and youth impacted by violence.

•   This official partnership launch of Adrian Grenier’s company, AOK and LIFE Camp, Inc. via social media efforts to recognize random “Acts of Kindness” by giving award points and prizes. The PeaceKeepers, led by anti-violence activist Captain Dennis, features an influential group of men who have assumed personal accountability and communal responsibility in reducing violence within their communities.  Since their inception four years ago, they have expanded to 15 cities throughout the United States, continuing their efforts for peace in the streets. http://peacekeepers.org

Inspired by NY Peace Week, Wyking Garrett the Umojafest Peace Center in Seattle, Washington, is hosting Seattle Peace Week, in the same spirit of promoting peace as a lifestyle in Martin Luther King County.

As a pre-launch event leading up to NY Peace Week, celebrity ambassador Deepak Chopra joined Erica Ford to host an exclusive conversation for New York City students, parents and community leaders who have been impacted by incidents of violence, bullying, inner conflict, or the stress of urban living.
