Necky Scarf To Host ‘Big Game’ Football Trivia Contest On Facebook And Twitter

To commemorate the Big Game this Sunday, BOC Ventures—manufacturers of the Necky—are hosting a football trivia contest

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 01, 2012 -
In celebration of the biggest sports day of the year this Sunday, BOC Ventures—manufacturers of the unique and innovative Necky—are hosting a football trivia contest through Facebook and Twitter, with the prize being an autographed Brandon Jacobs rookie card.

The trivia contest will begin on Thursday, February 2, and end Sunday, February 5, 2012 upon the conclusion of the Big Game.

“This is an exciting week for football fans, especially New York Giants and New England Patriot fans, so we wanted to get all of Necky fans buzzing about the game this Sunday,” said Paul Boccardi of BOC Ventures.  “Beginning tomorrow, football trivia questions will be asked throughout the day on Facebook and Twitter.  Whoever is the first person to answer correctly gets 1 point.  Also, there will be one Bonus question worth 3 points asked once a day.  At the end of the game Sunday, whoever has accumulated the most points throughout the week will win an autographed Brandon Jacobs rookie card.”

BOC Ventures launched the Necky this past year.  “The Necky is the most practical and efficient piece of neckwear you can buy to protect yourself from the cold this winter; it’s
perfect for tailgating or watching any outdoor event,” said Paul Boccardi, of BOC Ventures.

“It is the most versatile scarf you can own in that it is not only warm and compact so you can store it in your pocket or purse when not in use, but it also has a storage pocket perfect for carrying your keys, ski lift pass, phone music player or any other handheld accessory.  You can even lift the Necky up to protect your face on those windy days.”

Made from the highest quality fleece, the Necky Scarf’s patented design provides warmth and protection to your chest and neck from the elements without the excess weight and bulk of traditional scarves.  The Necky is adjustable and fastens behind the neck making it easy to put on and take off.  And in terms of convenience, the Necky has a pocket for accessories and can fold small enough to fit in your coat pocket.

“Good luck to everybody and we hope you have fun with the contest,” said Boccardi.  “The winner will be announced on Facebook and Twitter Monday, February 6 at 11 a.m.”

Available in an assortment of colors, the Necky Scarf comes in two adjustable sizes for both kids and adults.  And in addition to its practicality as a weather garment, the Necky can also be worn as a turtleneck or mock turtleneck under any jacket or shirt.

“The Necky Scarf is perfect for everyone….casual users, sports enthusiasts, commuters, skiers, joggers, outdoor workers, business professionals, late season golfers…and don’t forget about the kids” said Mr. Boccardi.  “Parents will have peace of mind knowing that their children can dress themselves warmly without their help.  It is also comforting to know that the Necky is safe as it, will not tighten around the neck if pulled, unlike traditional knotted scarves.”

Application Deadline Nears for the Fourth Innovations in Reading Prize

For individuals and institutions that demonstrate passion and creativity in promoting a lifelong love of reading. Winners will each receive $2,500 and an all-expenses-paid trip to NYC for a special lunch and the 2012 National Book Awards Gala.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) - Jan 18, 2012 -
New York, NY  - The postmark application deadline for the National Book Foundation’s fourth Innovations in Reading Prize is February 21, 2012. The prize awards up to $2,500 each to individuals and institutions—or partnerships between the two—that have developed innovative means of creating and sustaining a lifelong love of reading.

In support of its effort to promote literature to diverse audiences, the National Book Foundation seeks applications from individuals and institutions that demonstrate a similar commitment. The most important criteria for selecting winners are creativity, risk-taking, and a visionary quality, as well as a novel way of presenting books and literature. The Prize is less focused on the promotion of basic literacy and the pedagogy of reading than on the promotion of literary reading.

Applications for the Innovations in Reading Prize are available for completion online.
To download the 2012 Innovations in Reading Prize application and to view all previous winners, visit
http://www.nationalbook.org/innovations_in_reading.html.

Questions should be directed to Katie McDonough at kmcdonough@nationalbook.org.

Winners will be announced to the public on May 9, 2012 and featured in an article to be included in the Foundation’s monthly eNewsletter, posted on Facebook, and tweeted to over 185,000 followers, as well as published on a special Innovations in Reading page on the National Book Foundation’s website. Winners will also receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to attend a special luncheon at the Ford Foundation, where they will present their work to funders and other people in the field, as well as the National Book Awards Ceremony and Benefit Dinner at Cipriani Wall Street.

Over the course of three years, the Foundation has received over 400 applications from all across the country. Innovations in Reading Prize winners have included a teacher in Santa Fe, New Mexico; a Sunday School teacher who started a library for the community at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in rural Hopkins, South Carolina;  ReadKiddoRead, an online resource created by best-selling author James Patterson and literary consultant Judy Freeman that helps parents, teachers, and librarians identify books for kids; Burton Freeman, a retired attorney, whose My Own Book program helps inner-city New York students build their own private libraries;  the Maricopa County Library District in Arizona, which dropped the Dewey Decimal System and replaced it with a more user-friendly system; Electric Literature/Electric Publisher,  an upstart publishing company and literary journal out of Brooklyn, New York that uses new media and innovative distribution methods to keep storytelling a vital force in popular culture; and the Young Adult Review Network (YARN), an online journal based in Weston, Massachusetts that showcases work by teen writers alongside that of established authors to elevate the YA genre.

Innovations in Reading is supported by a generous grant from Levenger.

In addition to the National Book Awards, the Foundation’s programs include  5 Under 35, a celebration of young fiction writers selected by former National Book Award Finalists and Winners; the National Book Awards Teen Press Conference, an opportunity for students across the country to interview the current National Book Award Finalists in Young People’s Literature; the Innovations in Reading Prize, awarded to individuals and institutions that have developed innovative means of creating and sustaining a lifelong love of reading; and BookUp, an after-school reading club for middle- and high-school students, which is run in New York City and Bryan, Texas.

Social Media Monitoring: e.LifeMonitor launches first free iPad app to monitor social media success

E.life – the leading social media market intelligence and monitoring company in South America, Spain and Portugal – has launched e.lifeMonitor in the U.S., a free iPad app that monitors the presence of brands on Twitter.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) - Dec 28, 2011 - SOCIAL MEDIA MONITORING BEYOND AUTOMATION:
THE VALUE IS IN THE HUMAN ANALYSIS

•   Real, human analysis is needed beyond automated software and tools
•   e.lifeMonitor: the first free iPad app monitoring brand presence

FRESNO, Calif. (December 28, 2011) — E.life – the leading company in South America, Spain and Portugal in the field of market intelligence, monitoring and analysis of social media for brands, products and services – has launched e.lifeMonitor in the U.S., a free iPad app that monitors the presence of brands on Twitter. The app is already available for the iPad and will soon be ready for tablets using other operating systems. The app will also shortly be extended to monitor brand presence on Facebook and other social networks.

Jairson Vitorino, Chief Technical Officer at E.life said: “The decision to choose Apple’s tablet as our application’s launch platform wasn’t taken by chance. We chose it as until now there has been no similar app for sale in the iPad App Store.”
In addition, E.lifeMonitor offers brands access to a group of trained analysts who are social media specialists. These analysts provide market intelligence reports based on a proven method, E.life’s own customized tools, and their own experience and knowledge. Each report is unique and is offered as an added-value service for an additional monthly fee.

e.lifeMonitor includes six types of reports: top users ranked by followers, locations, top retweets, top terms and daily volume charting. Users can register up to three brands and compare their tweet presence. As an option, ‘negative’ or ‘positive’ terms can be used to track sentiment. For corporate users of e.lifeMonitor app, E.life is giving away 500 free trials of their Tweetmeter web-based system.

Software is an essential ally in monitoring social networks. These tools include quality graphics, real-time reporting and even automated analysis of users’ opinions about brands, but social media managers can feel overwhelmed by the amount of data they receive.

“The benefits of automatic software solutions have been exaggerated. It takes an enormous amount of time to debug the data, correctly analyze and interpret the data, and create valuable summary reports for marketing directors and brand managers who want to decide their future social media strategy.” points out Vitorino.

“Our competitors are wholly-focused on the tools. Without a human behind them, tools do not offer true market intelligence. We offer e.lifeMonitor for free for iPad because what really matters is the service.  Software and data without intelligent analysis have no positive effect on a company’s social media strategy, and might even end up taking them in the wrong direction,” added Jairson Vitorino.

To download the e.lifeMonitor app for free, visit http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/e.lifemonitor/id484068460 ….
