SkyDox has been announced as a finalist in the IT Europa European Software Excellence Awards in the SaaS Enterprise Solution category.
London – SkyDox, a leading provider of a cloud-enabled file sharing, file synchronization, and collaboration platform for cross-functional and distributed teams, has been announced as a finalist in the IT Europa European Software Excellence Awards in the SaaS Enterprise Solution category.
The European Software Excellence Awards are the only pan-European awards that recognize the crucial role that Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) play in the delivery of real world solutions, attracting entries from 18 countries. Each entry requires the ISVs to describe their nominating solution and provide a client/customer endorsement. Thirty-six companies from 14 countries were selected by an independent panel of consultants and editors.
SkyDox was recognized for its work with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which uses SkyDox’s technology to enhance its existing Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft FAST document search and sharing platform.
With a database of over 90,000 legal documents and five million website visitors a year, the ECHR was facing a daunting document management challenge before implementing SkyDox. Required under convention (Article 44 § 3) to make judgements and rulings public as soon they’re announced, the organization’
Beyond these original requirements, SkyDox was also able to further enhance the solution by providing a built-in automated document metadata tagging system, making search infinitely easier and relevant for users. Capabilities are also being built to allow users to further refine their searches by name, member state, or specific legal terms. In addition, the platform alerts users via RSS feeds when new, related documents become available.

Nickel allergies are responsible for disrupting band practice! Children and teens who unknowingly are allergic to nickel are facing itchy rashes around their mouths, chin, neck, and fingers due to nickel found in the band instruments.
Brass, woodwinds, and string instruments may all contain nickel. Musicians have long considered contact dermatitis to be an occupational hazard for those with allergies to metal. Further exacerbating the problem of skin contact with nickel is the pressure, friction, and moisture related to sweat and saliva. These conditions worsen an already existing nickel allergy causing extreme discomfort.
Symptoms of nickel allergy include red rashes, bumps on the skin, moderate to severe itching, swelling, blisters or crusting skin. These symptoms are generally isolated to the area in contact with the metal containing nickel.
Parents and teachers should consider recommending nickel allergy testing for a guitarist with rashes on the hand, an oboist with itchy lips, or even a violinist using a metal chin rest that is causing welts on the neck area.
There are remedies, but each case should be tested by an allergist or dermatologist to make the correct diagnosis. Following testing, it may be recommended that the band member take a break from music until the skin condition heals. Additionally, acoustic guitarists may select from bronze, copper or nylon strings that will not cause a reaction.
