Chicken Soup for the Springfield Soul

Chicken Soup for the Soul inspirational book series responsible for bringing two Springfield, Illinois writers together as friends and contributing authors in new Family Caregivers release.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 27, 2012 -
Ladle up a double bowl of chicken soup with a distinct Springfield flavor courtesy of authors Kathleen H. Wheeler and Jean Ferratier. Both of these central Illinois writers have stories featured in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Family Caregivers to be released on March 13, 2012. The newest title in the inspirational book series includes 101 stories of love, sacrifice and bonding as support and encouragement to family members caring for loved ones with chronic and life-threatening illnesses.

Wheeler’s story is called “Changing My Expectations”and details a nursing home visit on her mother’s seventy-fifth birthday, providing an honest depiction of end-stage Alzheimer’s disease and the coping strategies required to deal with the reality of this heartbreaking illness. The account is an excerpt from her soon-to-be-published book about a family’s voyage of discovery towards reconciliation through the treacherous landscape of dementia caregiving with a musical twist.

“It is a special honor for this particular story to be featured inChicken Soup for the Soul,” notes Wheeler. “As it turned out, my mother died only two short months after the real-life birthday visit that is described in my story. At the time, I had no idea the end was so near. I used to read Chicken Soup for the Soul to my mother when I visited her, so it seems appropriate for her story to be included in this book series.”

Written by Ferratier, “Dry Her Tears” describes the challenge of taking care of her adult daughter after a serious work injury and how the difficult experience brought her family closer together during a time of crisis. Another one of Ferratier’s stories, “Childhood Delights,” is included in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Positive and discusses a separate experience as an Alzheimer’s caregiver.

“My ex-husband Louis and I were brought closer together by the duties we shared taking care of our daughter,” explains Ferratier. “He was supportive of my efforts to tell our story and excited that others would get to read it. Unfortunately, Louis recently passed away before seeing our finished version in print. This narrative survives as a tribute to his life and devotion to our daughter.”

It is more than just a coincidence that Wheeler and Ferratier are featured together in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Family Caregivers. The inspirational book series is actually responsible for bringing these two authors together in the first place. Wheeler introduced herself to Ferratier after learning about her publication in Think Positive through the local newspaper.

“Jean and I share common interests and life experiences, and I felt certain she was someone I needed to get to know better,” says Wheeler. “We were both caregivers for mothers afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease, and we both felt it was necessary to write about the life-changing lessons we learned from that experience. I contacted Jean through LinkedIn, and our relationship progressed naturally from that point.”

After corresponding and sharing advice, the two stayed in touch, eventually met, and attended an author lecture together. When a call for entries in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Family Caregivers went out, Ferratier urged Wheeler to submit a story for consideration along with hers.

Fortunately, stories from both Ferratier and Wheeler were selected for inclusion in the book, and the two friends are thrilled to share the spotlight together as contributing authors in the same publication. The public is invited to a book signing scheduled at the Springfield, Illinois Barnes & Noble on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. Chicken Soup for the Soul: Family Caregivers will be available for purchase at the store, and both authors will read excerpts and sign copies of their stories. Visitors to Barnes & Noble will also be able to register for a chance to win a Chicken Soup for the Family Soul game or a Chicken Soup for the Soul 2012 wall calendar during the book signing.

Pediatrician Survey: 21% Kicked Families out of Practice for Vaccine Refusal

The CBCD has learned that the Wall Street Journal has put out an article referencing a study of Connecticut pediatricians published last year.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 19, 2012 -
The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) has learned that the Wall Street Journal has published an article referencing a study of Connecticut pediatricians published last year. In that study, some 30% of 133 doctors said they had asked a family to leave their practice for vaccine refusal, and a recent survey of 909 Midwestern pediatricians found that 21% reported discharging families for the same reason.

According to the article, Douglas Diekema, a professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington in Seattle said “There’s more noise among pediatricians, more people willing to argue that it’s OK to do this versus 10 years ago.” [1]

While the CBCD understands that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and AAP issue an annual recommended vaccination schedule that many physicians feel compelled to follow, new research by Dr. Hanan Polansky and the CBCD shows that there may indeed be a linkage between many vaccines and disease conditions.

For instance, many vaccines such as the HPV vaccine, Gardasil contain DNA fragments. While the FDA admits on its website that Gardasil (and other biologics) contain DNA fragments, they say that these fragments pose no risk to the health of those receiving the vaccine. In contrast, Dr. Hanan Polansky and the CBCD believe otherwise.

Dr. Hanan Polansky discovered the biological mechanism through which foreign DNA causes disease. It is called Microcompetition with Foreign DNA. Dr. Polansky’s “Purple Book” discusses these concepts and is available as a free download at: http://www.cbcd.net.

Dr. Waldemar A. Schmidt, MD, PhD – Professor Emeritus, Department of Pathology, School of Medicine, Oregon Health and Science University said of the book: “… I believe that all biomedical researchers in virtually all endeavors would benefit from reading the book. In addition, the concepts need to be integrated into the medical curriculum, as well as studies for biomedical research students.”

Thus, many parents may indeed be justified in being cautious when it comes to vaccinating their children with certain vaccines.

In light of the study referenced above, and in the Wall Street Journal, the CBCD especially encourages physicians (as well as virologists, biologists, geneticists, scientists and the general public) to obtain a copy of Dr. Hanan Polansky’s book and read it. The book is available as a free download from the CBCD website.

The CBCD endorses Dr. Polansky’s theory and invites family doctors, pediatricians, scientists, the media, and the general public to contact us on this issue.

The CBCD believes that by developing techniques that target dormant viruses within the body, many of today’s diseases can be overcome.

For more information on the Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease, or to schedule an interview with Dr. Polansky, please visit http://www.cbcd.net or call             585-250-9999      .

The mission of the CBCD is to advance the research on the biology of chronic diseases, and to accelerate the discovery of treatments for these diseases.

The CBCD published the “Purple” book entitled “Microcompetition with Foreign DNA and the Origin of Chronic Disease” written by Dr. Hanan Polansky. The book presents Dr. Polansky’s highly acclaimed scientific theory on the relationship between the DNA of latent (chronic) viruses and the onset of chronic diseases. Dr. Polansky’s book is available as a free download from the CBCD website.

We invite biologists, virologists, and scientists everywhere to download Dr. Polansky’s book.

Brad Rickerby Photos And Paintings
To Show At Cherry Branch In March

An exhibit by just one artist who works in two media will open at the Cherry Branch Gallery in Cherry Valley, New York, on 3 March 2012.  Bradford Rickerby, a well established news photographer, began using his camera to create abstract impressions of street life from Times Square to Japan’s Ginza a decade ago.  More recently he has begun to paint abstractions — and sometimes to use both brush and camera to capture, as he puts it, “the interactions among and between color, light and movement.”

Brad Rickerby might just as well have been born with a camera in his hand. The son of LIFE staff photographer Arthur Rickerby,  he developed a profound visual aesthetic early on and had his first publication credit in LIFE in 1966 at the age of nine. ??Rickerby flirted with the business world in the ’80′s, earned an MBA (Duke, ’89.) He worked on Wall Street but soon found that “my creative roots were stronger than my desire for wealth.”  His re-birth into art came in 1991 when he started shooting for the Brooklyn (NY) Phoenix. From there he went on to do paparazzi work for Sipa Press and eventually to news photography for Reuters based out of New York City. ??In 1998, based on his developing Photoimpressionism and City Lights projects, Rickerby signed a contract with Tony Stone (later Stone, still later Getty). ??Through distributions by Getty, Reuters, and SipaPress, Rickerby’s work has been published on six continents and by virtually every major publication in the world. His images have also been widely used by corporations, governments and institutions. .??Rickerby began painting In 2004. He works in a variety of media (oil, acrylic, watercolor etc.) matching the media to suit the mood of the image he wants to create.  Rickerby’s paintings share many similarities to his photography. They all revolve around the aesthetics of abstraction, chaos and tranquility.

In March of 2012 Rickerby will have his first solo show at the Cherry Branch Gallery in upstate New York. The show will feature both paintings and photographs. In both media, the style of the images will focus on light and color and movement. The interplay of these elements has been a fascination of Mr. Rickerby for the past two decades. Those wishing an invitation to the show or to see the artists paintings, please contact us.

Rickerby’s work may be seen at his website, http://www.bradrickerby.photoshelter.com.  He also writes a blog: http://www.bradrickerby.wordpress.com.  The Cherry Branch Gallery is located at 25 Main Street in Cherry Valley, New York.  The Rickerby show will open on 3 March 2012 and run through 5 April 2012.  A reception for the opening will be held from 5 to 7 PM on 3 March. The artist will be attending.

Shoals’ MultiLink junction box becomes the only certified and “ready to ship” universal PV interface

Shoals Technologies Group, the global leader in photovoltaic OEM and balance of systems components, and Multi-Contact proudly announces certification to DIN V VDE 0126-5: 2008-05 from TÜV Rheinland for the MultiLink™ junction box.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 20, 2012 - Portland, TN – Shoals Technologies Group, the global leader in photovoltaic OEM and balance of systems components, and Multi-Contact proudly announces certification to DIN V VDE 0126-5: 2008-05 from TÜV Rheinland for the MultiLink™ junction box.  With this certification the MultiLink™ junction box becomes the only certified and “ready to ship” universal interface for photovoltaic modules.

“We are very proud to announce the certification of the MultiLink™ platform and look forward to the effect it will have on the photovoltaic industry.  The adoption of power electronics, principally optimizers and micro-inverters, by the mainstream photovoltaic industry has been steadily increasing over the past few years, but due to many factors, primarily cost and flexibility, module manufacturers and installers were slow to adopt integrated electronics. Through our manufacturing relationships we understood there was a true need for a universal interface, essentially the “USB” port for PV modules, that would allow for a single module to be compatible with a variety of power electronics.  It was at this point we leveraged our experience to design a rugged yet flexible system that meets not only the requirements of a standard junction box but serves as an interface that is compatible for PV electronics,” said Dean Solon, President and CEO.

The MultiLink™ junction box system features the only universal interface compatible with accessory modules featuring electronics from an extensive catalog of today’s leading manufacturers of PV electronics including Tigo Energy, Solantro Semiconductor, SolarEdge, Ampt and Exceltech.  If the demand for power electronics is not currently significant, a standard junction box module is available. This insert can be easily removed at a later date in order to install power electronics. These features allow for lower production, installation and engineering costs while providing an unmatched level of flexibility and lifetime upgradability to module manufacturers and installers.

“As the leader in integrated electronics for PV modules, we are pleased to offer a Tigo Energy® SmartModule™ enclosure compatible with the Shoals MultiLink™ interface,” said James Bickford, Tigo Energy Director of Business Development.  ”By utilizing the MultiLink™ compatible j-box containing the Tigo Energy® electronics, our customers can quickly bring a certified SmartModule™ to market with the flexibility to configure the solution for any geography.  The Tigo Energy® SmartModule™ interoperates with the industry’s leading string and central inverter brands, and is cost optimized for residential and large commercial projects.”

Other features of the MultiLink™ junction box include:
- Standardized exterior geometry for automated assembly
- Rated voltage of 1000VDC (TUV) & 600VDC (UL)
- Rated current of 10A
- Temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C
- Environmental protection rating to IP67
- Manufacturing available in China and USA

The increased risk and costs associated with offering a “smart” module are critical factors that the MultiLink™ platform addresses.  In today’s volatile industry module manufacturers are in a difficult position where cost and product differentiation are critical factors.  In manufacturing, however, it is difficult to add value and reduce costs simultaneously. By using the MultiLink™ junction box PV module manufacturers no longer are required to select a single power electronics platform, manage multiple production lines and SKUs, or introduce electronics assembly into their factories.  The MultiLink™ platform allows for the module manufacturer to offer a “smart” module, compatible with multiple different vendors, by simply attaching the junction box normally, no additional electronics are required for assembly or test.  For the manufacturer, production costs stay stagnant but the value add to the end product is much higher.

For more information regarding Shoals MultiLink™ junction box, please visit http://www.Shoals.comor contact Shoals Technologies at             +1-615-451-1400       or at sales@shoals.com
