The Guineas Show They Have What It Takes On Blip.tv

The Guineas, Americas favorite dysfunctional immigrant family are launching their weekly original series THE GUINEAS SHOW on February 7 at “high” noon on Blip.tv.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) - Jan 27, 2012 -
The Guineas, Americas favorite dysfunctional immigrant family are launching their weekly original series THE GUINEAS SHOW on February 7 at “high” noon on Blip.tv.

This animated comedy series has spawned out of the original pilot webisode with the help of the trendy crowd source funding platform and private donations.

Out of the mind of Hollywood “Creatimator”  (creator and animator) Raymond St.Claire, The Guineas are very busy running their drama filled family owned pizzeria in the heart Hollywood which caters to all the celebrity stars.

The patriarch of the family is Salvatore Guinea Sr. who transplanted to America years ago to find the American Dream. Surrounded by his mother Nanna Guinea, his sister Marie, his two sons Sal Jr. and Vito Jr. and his ex-wife Gina who was recruited by the CIA, this family try to stay afloat in the crazy world of stars, gossip. food and entertainment.

The show has gotten rave reviews and is rapidly building its viewership in leaps and bounds.

http://blip.tv/theguineasshow

“It has taken off  really quickly and frankly… who knows what that damn family will say” said St.Claire

St.Claire is one of the creatives who find the internet a more viable platform than conventional television and has chosen to use  Blip.tv to deliver his show to the masses.

Blip.tv features the webs best web series making it one of the Internet’s largest independently owned and operated video properties. It  is now on pace to reach one billion views per quarter.

Many producers are choosing this platform for delivery of their media to avoid the almost impossible odds of actually getting their show picked up for network TV. The folks at Blip.tv have found a way to get advertisers to pay and then they split the revenue generated with the show creators. Is this the end of conventional television?

I asked St.Claire how the show originated and he replied ” I was a creative person who, like everyone else, has been out of work for a long time now. I heard the President say we as a nation have to learn to re-invent ourselves. The Guineas are a representation of that actual thought and were born out of a re-invention… and the necessity to eat. Sooner or later… you have to have something more than Ramen noodles.”

St.Claire voices the main “familia” cast and along with several celebrity impersonators and the help of internet “soundbites” the show comes to life weekly with a new episode.

When asked the hypothetical question of  ”will all the fame change the Guinea family?”
Sal Sr. emerged from the mind of St.Claire and in his adorable Italian accent retorted
“Of coursa it will…thats a stupida question!”

For those not familiar with the show they can catch up and visit:  http://blip.tv/theguineasshow  and see the original pilot episodes now or Tune into this hilarious zany bunch at their website  www.theguineasshow.com   and walk away with a smile for the day thankful for the fact that this is not your family.

Or is it?

Mission Chamber Orchestra Offers Dance Themed Valentine Concert

Mission Chamber Orchestra of San Jose will be presenting dance themed pieces from Dvo?ák, Piazzolla, Copland and Respighi for their February concert at Le Petit Trianon in San Jose

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) - Jan 26, 2012 - SAN JOSE, Calif. – January 26, 2012 – Composers over the centuries have used dance as inspiration for their compositions, from Bach’s 18th century stately court-dance inspired Courantes, Bourrées and Sarabandes to Stravinsky’s 20th century Le sacre du printemps (Rite of Spring) with its complex pounding rhythms. These compositions have moved audiences from gently nodding their heads or, in the case of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, to riot.

Likewise, Mission Chamber Orchestra of San Jose led by conductor and musical director Emily Ray will present a varied, danced-themed Valentine concert featuring Dvo?ák’s light and airy Valse and Scherzo from Serenade for Strings, op. 22 to Piazzolla’s sensuously rhythmic Argentine-tango based Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (Four Seasons). The latter is the highlight of the concert featuring violinist Christina Mok in a virtuoso violin performance of this exciting and cleverly novel piece originally composed for an accordion-like instrument called the bandoneón. This new (2009) arrangement by Russian conductor Leonid Desyatnikov includes an homage to Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Rounding out the performance are Aaron Copland’sDance Panels and Ottorino Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances Suite no. 1.

The Program:
Antonín Dvo?ák            Valse and Scherzo from Serenade for Strings, op. 22
Astor Piazzolla             Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (Four Seasons)
Aaron Copland            Dance Panels
Ottorino Respighi        Ancient Airs and Dances Suite no. 1

When:                 Sunday, February 11, 2012 at 7:30PM

Flea markets have been a part of the human culture since before the beginning of recorded history. When mankind first began farming he’d take his crops to the market. Wether it was wheat, milk, meat, fish or some handmade goods the flea market was the place where the world of finance was born.

Today’s flea markets are nearly the same as they’ve always been and in some cultures remain the most important aspect of the regional economy. You’ll find isles and rows of vendors selling everything from crops to electronics and crafts to antiques. People enjoy the flea market as a way to earn extra money, find unique things and just hang out shopping but what happens when you can’t attend a market in person? Is there still a way to enjoy such an event? Well until now the answer was no but as you probably expected the ancient tradition of Flea or Open Air Markets has been moved into the 21st century thanks to our ole friend the Internet.

LiveFlea.com is the world’s first and only Live Webcast Internet Flea market. Found Michael McNabb hopes to create an online atmosphere nearly exactly the same as an open air or flea market. Vendors are provided with a Webcast platform that allows buyers to ask questions, see items in detail on video and work out transaction details with the seller. What’s next nobody knows for sure but liveflea.com is sure to be a major player in the world of Online retail and Traditional Flea Markets.

Children Helping Children Program Helps Kids Make Worldwide Impact

The Children Helping Children program helps American children make a positive connection with children in India and Latin America. The program has raised over $400,000 to support the global mission and ministry of the School Sisters of St. Francis.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) - Jan 20, 2012 -
Milwaukee–The School Sisters of St. Francis, an international community of Catholic sisters based in Milwaukee, Wis., are using a simple, grassroots program to make a major global impact on the lives of children and families. The Children Helping Children program is aimed at making children aware of realities that face their peers in other countries.

Held each year in the late winter and early spring, Children Helping Children has been used by Catholic schools around the country as a way for grade school students to reflect on the meaning of the season of Lent; as a tool to spread global awareness; and as an important and meaningful fundraising project.

Over the last 20 years, children participating in this program have carried out small projects like craft fairs, carnivals, competitions, and awareness campaigns to raise money to help children their own age. By doing extra chores and making small sacrifices, the pennies and dimes donated by students have amounted to more than $400,000. These funds have played an important role in bringing growth and sustainability to the School Sisters of St. Francis’ mission efforts throughout India and Latin America.

The program packet, consisting of a 10-minute video, supplementary brochures and reflections, can be used by schools, Christian formation classes, and families. The School Sisters of St. Francis invite and encourage all of the community’s friends, supporters, and alumni to become involved in 2012 and to serve as ambassadors for the program by encouraging parish school or Christian formation leaders and families to take part.

To find out more about the program, please contact Brenna Skelly at the School Sisters of St. Francis International Office of Development, via email: bskelly@sssf.org or by phone: 414-385-5340.  Learn more on the web at www.sssf.org/english/us-newsChildrenhelpingchildren.shtml.
