Art People Gallery Presents Acclaimed Contemporary Artist Meamar in his “Original Collection”

Persian-American artist Meamar studied in Italy with some of the greatest artists of this century. As a result, his stylistic expertise ranges from classical to abstract. In the works of his “Original Collection,” Meamar utilizes some of the concepts of his past creations as the background for his new work. He plays very skillfully with our recollection and experience of time to carry us in a world that is defined at the same time by the past, the present and the future.

Instead of working on a blank surface, Meamar prints the image of one of his older paintings onto a wood panel, turning it into a piece of his history as an artist. He then paints over it, creating a new history out of which emerge pieces of the past, in the form of a hand, a face, or an eye. In addition to the traditional five senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste, Meamar depicts masterfully other senses of beauty, balance/harmony, motion and temperature as well as a sense of time.

Meamar’s “Original Collection” can be seen at Art People Gallery, located 50 Post St., in the Crocker Galleria, in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District.

Omnific Publishing Author Linda Cunningham To Appear On The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson

Omnific Publishing is pleased to announce the appearance of author Linda Cunningham on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, to be aired November 11, 2011.  Ms. Cunningham will be on the show to promote her new romance release, Small Town Girl.  She also happens to be Craig Ferguson’s mother-in-law. Craig posted the following to his Twitter account:

@craigyferg: Booked Linda Cunningham author of the novel “Small Town Girl” on the show for 11 Nov. Very tough interview. #shesmymotherinlaw #f%%k

Craig and Megan Cunningham met at a fundraiser in New York City and were married on Linda’s farm in Vermont in December 2008. They have one child together, Liam. (Mr. Ferguson has a son, Milo, from a previous marriage).

In her debut novel, Linda Cunningham writes about Lauren, a woman who has it all, discovering what she truly wants from her big city life.  Reviews for Small Town Girl have been quite positive. A Tale of Many Reviews blog reviewer, Julie Brazeal, says:

Small Town Girl is a great start to a new contemporary romance series by Cunningham. Fans of Fool’s Gold by Susan Mallery will enjoy this book….

…(Lauren’s grandmother’s house) is a major player in the story. If it weren’t for the house, there would be no meeting Caleb, no place to go when her world falls apart, nothing to throw all her efforts and emotions into, and no home for the future. What a great friend she has in that house!

I’m interested to see where Cunningham takes this series. For those that like happily ever afters that require work, disappointment, grand gestures, hot scenes, and redemption, Small Town Girl is a book for you.

Omnific Publishing was founded in 2009, and is a woman-owned independent publishing company that seeks to publish fresh, relevant and entertaining fiction in a number of different media, including eBooks, audio books, and print editions. Omnific Publishing specializes in the genre of romance, including contemporary, historical, paranormal, suspense, and erotic romance.

Small Town Girl was published on November 1, 2011, and is available at these online retailers: Omnific Publishing, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or ask for it at your local booksellers.

SYNOPSIS:  When Lauren Smith begrudgingly returns to the small Vermont town where she grew up to arrange for the sale of her late grandmother’

s old farmhouse, she has everything she’s always worked for. Lauren drives a Mercedes. She’s engaged to one of the most powerful businessmen in the country and wears a three carat diamond ring to prove it. She lives in a penthouse on Central Park West. Yes, Lauren has everything she considers important. She is smugly prepared for any eventuality in dealing with these country people, so Lauren isn’t surprised when the hot water isn’t working at the old house. No problem. She simply looks in the phone book and calls the local plumber.

The moment Caleb Cochran steps through the old screen door to fix the hot water, the glittery facade that masquerades as Lauren’s life begins to crumble around her. Though she tries hard to deny their mutual, magnetic attraction, Lauren is finally forced to reevaluate her focus and come face to face with her true self. “Small Town Girl” is a story of discovering the true meaning of life and love.

Linda Cunningham is a 1973 graduate of Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.  She grew up on a the farm in Millers Falls, MA, that her family has owned since 1925.  She has written steadily throughout the years, although usually other peoples’ speeches, articles, and grants, primarily for medical and agricultural trade journals.  Now that her three children are grown, Linda is writing full time and writing the stuff she loves—Romance!

Linda lives in a romantic stone house in the Green Mountain State of Vermont, surrounded by her gardens and animals which include horses, dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, a parakeet, goldfish and the wild visitors who tiptoe through on a regular basis.

Pro-Life Conference Objects to “Cull the Herd” Mentality of the Culture of Death

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pro-Life Conference Objects to “Cull the Herd” Mentality of the Culture of Death

Milwaukee, WI.  October 27, 2011.  The abortion issue is just the most visible aspect of a larger debate being carried out in American society according to the sponsors of a pro-life conference being held on the campus of Concordia University Wisconsin on November 12th, 2011.

An underlying premise of the conference is that what one believes about the nature of humanity will often drive where one stands on abortion and many other issues such as euthanasia, embryonic and stem cell research.   Depending on the stance that broader society takes, either a ‘culture of life’ or a ‘culture of death’ will emerge, the sponsors contend.

Lutherans For Life of Wisconsin and Concordia University Wisconsin’s Bioethics Institute are co-sponsoring the conference.

LFL-WI president Anthony Horvath says, “What we call the ‘Culture of Death’ always has the same characteristics regardless of which era in history we see it.  What does slavery in the 19th century, the Jews of the 20th century, and the unborn of the 21st century all have in common?  In each case, one group of people decided that another group of people were not really humans.  It was only a matter of time before someone decided it was time to ‘cull the herd.’”

The conference will challenge the notion that humans have the right to decide who is human and assert that this right is God and God’s alone.

One conference session will track the ‘culture of death’ and expose its roots in history and argue that its principles continue to bear fruit today in organizations such as Planned Parenthood. In another presentation, it will be shown how the principles that lead to a ‘culture of life’ are grounded in the Bible.  CUW’s Bioethics Institute director, Dr. Kevin Voss, will tie it all together to show how the different perspectives inform issues normally considered separate and distinct from abortion, such as assisted suicide and human cloning.  Wisconsin Right to Life’s Legislative Director, Susan Armacost, will participate in the panel discussion.

Horvath says, “Ideas have consequences.  We must take the time to examine our ideas and beliefs and ‘connect the dots’ between them and real world issues, and that is what this conference is about.”

Concordia University Wisconsin is located just north of Milwaukee, in Mequon, WI.  To register online and learn more about the conference visit www.lfl-wi.org

Anthony Horvath is available for interviews at 202-280-7971 or president@lfl-wi.org.

Novel Contest Winner’s Book Released

Robert Abernathy isn’t the sort of person to wait until the last minute.  It wasn’t his fault that he only learned of Athanatos Christian Ministry’s Christian novel contest just before its deadline!  The last minute haste paid off for Mr. Abernathy:  it would end up winning second place.  The rest, as they say, is history.

“The Walk to Walden Hill” is inspired by a real person and by real events but spun out of the real life experiences of Alabama native, coach, teacher, and author, Robert Abernathy.  Paul Walden was a rock in the lives of many in the community.  Though his place in Abernathy’s story is fictional, his significance in the lives of those he touched was deep and therefore a natural person to serve as the godly intercessor in this soon to be released book.

Abernathy describes Mr. Walden as man who left an impression on many and was a ‘faithful supporter’ and ‘trusted friend.’  Abernathy says, “I wanted to preserve Mr. Walden. Though he is definitely a larger than life character in this book, he surely lives in it.”

“The Walk to Walden Hill” grapples with many of the real life struggles that its author has encountered personally and in his observations of his students and athletes over the years.  There is the grief of loss, the pain of divorce, and the resentments left by deep hurts.  There is also repentance and reconciliation, highlighting the fact that forgiveness is as much for the forgiver as it is the forgivee.

A page turning epic, Abernathy’s book is a close look at the emotional and spiritual aftermath of abandonment and the overwhelming feelings of fear, self-doubt, and crushed hope experienced by children in the foster care system. Unlike other stories with a similar beginning, the main character, Josh Billows, does not experience healing through education or an undiscovered talent. Instead, Josh’s life is rescued by something simple: a hero who cared enough to show the way.

“The Walk to Walden Hill” is being released through CrossBooks a division of LifeWay, and will be officially available on September 1st.  This is also the deadline for entries in ACM’s 2012 Christian Novel Contest. Abernathy is presenting at ACM’s online writers conference this Thursday, August 18th.  Register for free at:  www.christianwritingconference.com

Robert Abernathy is available for interviews at [phone number].  The book’s website is: www.waldenhill.net/
