Celebrate the holidays and stay on budget with SHARE Food Buying Club. This nonprofit, volunteer-run organization has helped families save 30-50% on quality food for over 25 years, and the holidays are no exception. For just $30 plus a small shipping and handling fee in some areas, SHARE’s Christmas Dinner Package contains all of the fixings to prepare a complete holiday spread for a family of six. This year’s package includes a seasonal fresh produce assortment that’s larger than ever…plus dessert!

Everyone is welcome to purchase food through SHARE—there are no eligibility requirements or income limits. Families can purchase and pick up their dinner package and a wide selection of other quality foods at one of nearly 200 SHARE locations throughout Wisconsin, northeastern Minnesota, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northern Illinois.

The SHARE Christmas Dinner Package features a 6-pound boneless honey ham, canned pineapple, a sweet potato casserole, 8 premium dinner rolls, an 8-inch pre-baked apple pie, and over 10 pounds of fresh produce including potatoes, carrots, broccoli, apples, oranges and other seasonal varieties (produce selection may vary).

Families can shop for the Christmas Dinner Package online with a credit or debit card at http://www.sharewi.org through Sunday, December 4. SHARE’s main office is accepting orders with credit, debit and SNAP (food stamp) cards through Friday, December 2 by calling toll-free 800-548-2124. Pick-up will take place on Saturday, December 17 at most SHARE sites.

With the continued economic downturn making it difficult for many families to make ends meet, SHARE also invites the public to help others in need this holiday season. You can purchase a dinner package for a family you know, or make a donation and SHARE will provide a dinner to a deserving family on your behalf. More information and a secure online donation page are available at http://www.sharewi.org.

Businesses, churches, service clubs and social service organizations are also welcome to purchase dinner packages through SHARE for their holiday outreach programs. Many groups raise funds and then purchase holiday dinner packages to distribute to local families in need. For these groups, SHARE offers an affordable and convenient way to brighten the holidays for families in difficult circumstances.

SHARE’s efforts to serve the community with savings on quality food would not be possible without volunteers. More help is needed during the busy holiday season, but the need exists all year long. Visit http://www.sharewi.org or call toll-free 800-548-2124 for information on volunteering with SHARE in your community.

Should Companies Spend Money to Reduce Wastes & Recycle? Not if it doesn’t help their Bottom Line!

It has to make economic sense for companies to invest in waste disposal & recycling equipment. A new free “Guide to Calculate Savings from Waste Disposal & Recycling Equipment” is available to help them determine if it makes sense for them.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 23, 2011 - Most companies & organizations are under pressure to “Go Green” and to control their increasingly high waste disposal costs. Yet in these difficult economic times, it has to make business sense for them to invest in waste disposal & recycling equipment equipment. So how can they know whether it would be worthwhile? A new free “Guide to Calculate Savings from Waste Disposal & Recycling Equipment” is now available for companies & organizations to determine what their likely outcome would be –based on facts rather than opinions or prejudgments. This 11 page Guide gives helpful information, including tables that show overall savings from waste waste reduction in relation to the cost of equipment. It is a practical tool which includes formulas they can use to calculate their likely “Break-Even” level (where the savings offset the cost of the equipment; “Payback” (how long it will take for savings to equal the cost of equipment; and” Return on Investment” (the percentage return they get on their cost of equipment). The Guide can be used as a workbook so companies can just plug in their own figures to make the calculations for their particular situation. Many businesses are surprised to find that they can actually come out ahead money-wise, frequently with full payback from their equipment investment within 2 years or less. On the other hand, some business’ calculations may show that the equipment would cost more than what they would save. Equipment now available (e.g. compactors, balers, crushers) is very efficient and can reduce the volume of wastes up to 90% by compacting, and can also convert wastes into recyclable form. Savings on disposal costs of 50% or more is typical. And companies can get additional revenues by recycling. The only way for a company to know their likely result is to do their own calculation. All types of businesses and organizations, regardless of industry category or size of operations, can find this Guide useful, since they all have wastes that they need to dispose of.The Guide also covers other “less-quantifiable” benefits of waste reduction & recycling, including such factors as: saving space, saving time, improving operational efficiencies, improved safety, and strengthening the organization’s image. There are also significant environmental benefits.  And with more money available, companies are in a better position to create additional jobs, thereby also benefitting the economy. Even though these benefits are difficult to measure in dollar terms, they further add to the value of investing in such equipment. “Going GREEN not only means benefitting the environment but should also mean more money to those who decrease their wastes & recycle” says Paul Juhnke, President of Waste Disposal Equipment Co, the developer of this Guide.
