Clearwater, FL – The 2011 Corvette Dream Giveaway, a nationwide drawing sponsored by Kids Wish Network, came to an end on December 30, 2011. Kids Wish Network and Dream Giveaway, Inc. are proud to announce 59 year-old Gary Burrell from Baltimore, Maryland, as the winner of the 2011 Corvette Dream Giveaway. On February 23, 2012, Mr. Burrell will be handed the keys to not one but two amazing Corvettes in Detroit, MI. Mr. Burrell will take home both a 1963 Split Window Coupe; a highly sought after collectible, and the 2011 Hero Edition ZR1; a one-of-a-kind sports car.
Mr. Burrell, who works as a postal worker in Cockeysville, MD, entered the 2011 Corvette Dream Giveaway on December 13 by making a $100 tax-deductible donation to Kids Wish Network. Members of both Kids Wish Network and Dream Giveaway, Inc. were on hand to congratulate Mr. Burrell when he received the winning phone call. Mr. Burrell was overjoyed to hear the great news, “I was both shocked and excited,” Mr. Burrell said. “It was hard to believe at first but it is finally starting to sink in that this is really true.”
Mr. Burrell, who describes himself as an automotive enthusiast, had seen ads for the 2011 Corvette Dream Giveaway in various magazines such as Road & Track and Car and Driver before deciding to enter, “In my spare time I enjoy reading car magazines as well as watching sports,” Mr. Burrell said. “When I saw the ad for the 2011 Corvette Dream Giveaway I thought I would enter and take a chance at winning. I knew even if I didn’t win I would still be helping out a great cause. I like donating to charities and will continue to donate in the future.”
Kids Wish Network is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children having experienced life-altering situations. Thousands of entries were received over the course of the giveaway as a means of helping these hospitalized children.
Mr. Burrell, who is equally excited to get behind the wheel of both the 1963 Split Window Coupe and the 2011 ZR1, said he is looking forward to traveling to Detroit for the award ceremony on February 23, “This is going be a once in a life time opportunity,”
Kids Wish Network would like to offer its sincere gratitude to all of the partners and sponsors involved with this giveaway as well as everyone who made donations. The funds raised will benefit Kids Wish Network’s Hero Program in pediatric hospitals nationwide. This program works to improve the lives of boys and girls coping with traumatic life-changing events by recognizing their courage and strength in coping with their challenges. Each month participating facilities award these children a special “Hero” recognition package.
